Russell's Sport N' Bike began life in Star Prairie by a local man Bennie Matthys as “Bennie's Bait” shortly after world war II. Selling fishing tackle and hunting supplies, the store flourished under Bennie's command for many years until his retirement. The store subsequently traded hands a few times until being purchased by Garry Russell in 1985 who ran it until 2000 with the help of the current owners Rick Connors and Corey Russell. Under Garry's control, the store doubled in size and added a full line archery shop, full service bicycle shop, top quality softball equipment, kayaks, and canoes.
Rick and Corey purchased the store from Garry in 2000 and to this day continue to grow sales with the business belief of treating their customers as friends and neighbors, the kind of business that knows most of their customers by name and servicing their products they sell after the sale. Supplying the area with some of the freshest live bait by trapping and storing bait in spring fed waters keeps our bait some of the best around. Our archery and bicycle technicians have over 20 years experience in the service dept.
